Folk Machine 2020 Gamay Rosé
Tasting Notes
I won’t get too nerdy on you, but as an FYI, vino made from gamay grapes has a reputation for tasting like candy. This gamay rosé most definitely got that memo and then some. It’s watermelon gummies blanketed in a blizzard of sour powder. It’s a chunky movie theater box of Lemonheads dumped directly into your open mouth with such fervor that it sounds like a bucket of Legos spilling over the hardwood floors. It’s the tempered tang of a Nerds Rope eaten Lady And The Tramp-style in the dark with your lover (yum). Despite all of that pucker, it also has this pitaya smoothie bowl-like refreshment factor, which is kind of nature’s candy if you’re trying to cut back on sugar. TL;DR: Folk Machine Rosé is liquid lollipops - only there will be no spectacles-clad owl academic to help you figure out how many sips until you get to the bottom of the bottle. You’re on your own there.
Pair With:
A cajun-style prawn boil served on newspaper with plenty of freshly-squeezed lemon wedges and so much Old Bay that it flavors the air with celery salt. Or, a fried shrimp po’boy.
Funk-o-Meter
Funk? Nah. But a galvanic film of acid with every mouthful?! You bet.
