Tasting Notes
Cutter Cascadia 2020 Strawberry Mullet Rosé
Tasting Notes
This princess-pink zinfandel rosé is not your standard white zin that belongs in a box (or more realistically, in the garbage). It’s not sickly sweet but nicely dry, a dripping sandía paleta and a few dollars-worth of gooey strawberries-and-cream saltwater taffy on a rickety boardwalk pier. When perfectly chilled, it has a refreshing little zing that would reign victorious in a boxing match against a tall glass of Arnold Palmer. Sorry, Arnie - better luck next time in the ring. Strawberry Mullet will work just as well in your finest stemmed glassware while entertaining in-laws as it would sloshed in a Party City plastic margarita goblet washing down a pound of chili cheese Fritos that are a couple months after the best-by date. And we love it for that - just a great, light, watermelon-ish wine to keep in stock at all times.
Pair With:
Supermarket snacks out in the backyard if you don’t feel like trying very hard, and lemony grilled shrimp with garlic and fresh parsley alongside parmesan orzo (or cheesy rice-a-roni, I won’t tell) if you do. Or, some falafel takeout if you’re somewhere in-between.
Funk-o-Meter
This is pretty dissimilar to many other rosés I’ve had, but it’s by no means funky.
