Tasting Notes

I have an abstractly-particular evaluative judgement when drinking reds, and that’s calculating its ability to really hit the spot when I’m sitting by a fire. That’s because I usually don’t gravitate towards the ruby ones, but whilst being warmed up by a crackling flame, you better hand over that crimson juice before I scream. And sometimes, just sometimes, there’s another type of wine that tickles that same fancy. That’s this skin contact marsanne from The Orcas Project - it looks like an amber, but cozies like a red. The flavor here bears a striking resemblance to citrusy orange marmalade spread on charred sourdough toast. Juicy, zesty, and a little herby with the tiniest bit of smoke to give every drop the kind of backbone you want in a fireside-slurping wine.

Pair With:

Creamy soup - think bacon-y potato leek, clam chowder, or lobster bisque if you’re feeling fancy. Or, Panera’s broccoli and cheddar if you’re not. With a side of crusty bread, and obviously, a bonfire.

Funk-o-Meter

This is a Goldilocks-level of funk - there really isn’t too much, but it’s also not completely missing. Just right like that third bowl of porridge.
