Tasting Notes

This is one of the bottles without any whimsical/provocative/hallucinogenic/hand-illustrated scene on the label, so you’re gonna have to trust that it’s fantastic. Because sometimes, you’ll encounter a wine in the wild that isn’t aggressively tugging at your shirt corner begging you to take it home, but rather flashing a demure “come hither” stare from the shelf. That’s this bubbly lambrusco. It’s darker than rippling ocean water at midnight, chockablock with velvety mauve foam and the kind of half-sweet, half-tart mouthfeel you experience when munching down on earthy blueberries that have burst mid-bake inside a pound cake. It’s drier than a few bong rips, but backed by plenty of acidity to still refresh you better than a fruit punch Gatorade - only with some blackberry funk and a twinge of ebony canned olive savoriness (you know, the guys atop sh*tty supreme pizzas and pub nachos). That’s right, you better come hither.

Pair With:

The predictable pairing: pizza or lasagna, either choice kicked up with hot crumbled sausage and lots of shaved grana.

The unpredictable pairing: kung pao chicken with a side of wokked string beans and pan-seared potstickers.

Funk-o-Meter

The funk here is really gentle - like whizzing your bike down a freshly-paved path boasting 0% elevation, or showing a toddler the proper way to pet a little doggie.
