Tasting Notes

One of my favorite bubble bottles in the universe, this Lambrusco di Sorbara from Italy is a big, frosty scoop of grapefruit-y, prickly pear cactus sorbet with a smidgen of brambly raspberry, soft watermelon, and candied orange zest but - none of the brain freeze. It has some bite from that squeeze of citrus, and a perfectly subtle tang only made better by a truckload of carbonation. It would work wonders if all you wanted to do was drape an oversized wool sweater over your shoulders like a vampire cape and moodily sip it on a balcony overlooking your own private beach, but if your life isn’t an episode of Big Little Lies, open this for a happy reason with other people that you enjoy the company of.

Pair With:

Drunken noodles, chicken tikka masala, a round of margherita pizzas spiked with Calabrian chile paste, or a bowl of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. You’ve got options, but make it spicy.

Funk-o-Meter

You know it’s there, but it’s not dominating all of your attention - kinda like if you’re playing hide-and-seek with a young child and you can clearly see their little trendy toddler Allbirds poking out from underneath a hedge, but you play along by shouting, “Uh oh, where’d Larkspur go? Oh well, better keep looking!” and then you accidentally end up drinking homebrewed kombucha and arguing about PTA politics with the other parents for four hours while the kid broods completely unsupervised among the shrubbery until dusk. Yeah, like that.
