Day Wines 2019 Vin De Days L’Orange
Tasting Notes
Not an orange wine person? You can stop it right there. Day Wines’ Vin De Days will make you a believer, hopefully. A big gulp is basically a fistful of freshly-cut flowers to the face, but not in an overpowering perfume-ish way that’d remind you of potpourri, or that dress from Midsommar. There’s some refreshing zip to it, but it’s still very dry in the best way - much like literally every cast member’s performance in “Catastrophe.” Especially Carrie Fisher’s. This practically-invented-for-nice-weather juice is tangerine-y, almost tropical, and the vase potential of the empty bottle is simply soaring. Get a florist ready to go on your speed-dial.
Pair With:
A BBQ meal, like smoked half-chicken with pork-y pit beans and a slice or eight of honey butter-topped cornbread. And, of course, all four seasons of Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan’s unadulterated brazen brilliance in “Catastrophe.”
Funk-o-Meter
As funkless as a suburban family’s annual Christmas card, donned in matching sweaters (even the dog).
